Four Habitable Planets - Part 2
This is a continued post, part 1 can be found here
Hey guys, back again with part two of this three part series. This will most likely be the shortest post of the lot, but tomorrows post will be the longest I would say. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the article and make some sense of it! As always views and comments are appreciated.
The third type of planet we explore are the icy worlds. These are the planets that have water underneath their surface, rather than above it. The moon of Jupiter, Europa is a perfect example of what is trying to be said here. However Europa is part the point in the solar system where ice can change to water. Apparently once it is past the certain point, it can no longer become water.
The acceptable appearance of accouter zones thinks of a bounded brilliant as actuality the prime activity source. Worlds like Europa however that are icy, added factors appear into play, such as the gravitational cull of additional planets. Worlds with aqueous baptize under icy layers could potentially be inhabited by simple bacilli admitting actuality far from the accepted accouter zone, so continued as activity is provided in some added way.
That concludes part two, part three will be up tomorrow!
Four Habitable Planets - Part 1
Now two mysteries that have faced scientists for years are; how are existence came about and other worlds that could possibly have life on. Now although so much research and thought has been put into these two topics; there is no certain answer just yet.
A man by the name of Jan Hendrik Bredehöft has come along with a few ideas relating to whether planets can be habitable. I will bring this story to you in three parts, this being the first one. Expect the others to be posted over the next few days. This research will definitely help scientists in their search as this can narrow things down; as well as provide places to send out programs to bring back pictures of different planets.
Earth Like Worlds
Firstly, Earth Like Worlds were brought up. Well all planets like this a habitable; thus they are under control in the search. Planets like this would need to be able to handle complex life; have oxygen, a liquid base of water, normal climate and of course livable temperatures.
Mars Like Worlds
The second and last one I will have in this post were suggested to be worlds such as Mars and Venus. These worlds were once like Earth but have since changed. Mars became very dry and little to no water can be found on it. Due to the greenhouse effect Venus became too hot for anything to live on!
But Bredehöft believes there is still a possibility these planets could be habitable. He believes over time, living things would have got used to the conditions and eventually been able to exist and live a normal life. He says that the Earth has gone through so much in past times yet survived it, why wouldn’t other living things on other planets do the same? He makes a strong point in saying that once life is established it is very hard to destroy or kill off.
Methane Levels Take An Upward Spiral
After seven years of no apparent increase, methane levels have steadily begun to rise. If you believe in the Global Warming controversy, this may just be something that is speeding it up. Dr Paul Fraser from the CSIRO says that studies done of 12 stations have shown an increase in methane levels.
Fraser notes - after seven years of little to no growth, methane levels have now shown signs of rising to what we saw in the early 1990s. A chief research scientist made a claim that the methane levels shown, are perhaps going to cause a spurring in global warming. He says, if methane levels continue to grow at this rate, it will be the second most important greenhouse gas to control, after CO2.
Fraser adds methane is accountable for around 20% of all greenhouse gases. It is twenty times more powerful than carbon dioxide. Seeing as it is a greenhouse gas, it comes from places like natural wet habitats, some fires, mines and some gases.
Emissions accept been counterbalanced over the accomplished decade by accustomed sinks that blot the gas and through blaze into the atmosphere. Fraser says sources of methane accept been growing with arising of close wetlands for agronomical use and added deposit ammunition use. However, the abolition of accustomed close wetlands removes an important bore from the aerial equation.
Yahoo Now Shows Ads In IM Services!
Well, being a webmaster I like to stay on the webmaster/online technology niche. This story really caught my eye, reason being is I use it a lot to get in touch with clients. Well, anyone that uses Yahoo Messenger would know they have pretty much always had ads in the buddy search part of the program. But now, they have also begun testing their ad services in the chat windows themselves!
Now one example of these ads is a credit card offer; Mastercard is the main one. It appears just above the text where you are chatting; to be honest it does get a little annoying. Apparently the ads are part of a campaign that was started in August and finishes at the end of this month; December.
From what I have heard, the two main reasons Yahoo has implemented this in their chat service is:
- It is just a test and they want to see whether it does any well.
- As Yahoo Messenger is a free service, they want to make sure it is profitable. No ads means they are just providing free software and get nothing in return; except users of course.
Also, Yahoo has mentioned that there are no public plans released as to what they will do with the results. They commented that they will take care of the results and apply appropriate action dependent on them.
The ads are known to only show once per day per user. The ads disappear as you scroll up the page/continue on with your conversation. Also, the ads are only being shown in Yahoo Messenger 7 and up.
Wordpress 2.7 - Download Frenzy!
Alright, well this is a little different from what I have been posting about. This is more on the webmaster side of things but hey, I’ll post it anyway! The new version of Wordpress, was released a few days back. Wordpress 2.7 has seen a frenzy of people downloading and installing it! In fact; within the first 20 hours of it going live, it had already had over 100,000 downloads. Imagine the owner had a dollar for every download
Now for those who are not in the webmaster niche, Wordpress is a program which you can install on a site and turn it into a blog. A blog is what you are reading right now; the difference between a blog and a site is a blog is updated more. Anyhow, back on track the current amount of times Wordpress 2.7 has been downloaded is now 370,738! Pretty damn good aye? Did I mention it updates every 20 seconds or so, and by the looks of it, the download rate continues to grow!
Now, how on Earth could one program/software get so many people downloading it? Simple, it is probably the best you can get and; it’s completely free! Below are some more reasons why people choose to download Wordpress:
- It is extremely easy to use, in fact I would probably say it is easier then some of the big programs designed to be written in. You can insert images, videos, bold text, all with ease and grace ![]()
- Now, it is also very, very easy to install. I know lazy people that take the option of using Fantastico. This program installs it at the push of a button. However, I am incredibly smart in I have never learned how to use it
- So I use the manual installation method; pretty easy and only takes a few minutes. In fact most of the time taken is waiting for the files to upload via FTP.
- The amount of plugins, widgets and themes you can install is incredible. You can literally grab a hundred plugins, upload and activate them just clicking “activate”. The themes are just as easy to install. A great thing about newer versions is they also allow you to edit themes a lot faster. Rather then having to open files, reupload and so on.
That is all for now, see you all back tomorrow!
Merry Christmas!
Hey guys,
I just wanted to wish you all a very belated Merry Christmas! I was away for yesterday’s post so unfortunately I couldn’t put anything new up on the site. Anyway, I hope you all had a great Christmas as I did and I hope your New Year is just as good. Getting sunny down in Australia so looks very nice to go to the beach soon.
Anyhow, hope you all had fun and were safe!
Bye!

Are you a guy? Now, I am looking for the answer of “yes” otherwise you can move on. To be honest, you can keep reading even if you aren’t. Now, if you are a guy; you would know just how hard it gets come Christmas time. Especially if you are assigned the job of wrapping presents. Even wrapping a present for your wife, girlfriend and son on takes time and is pretty difficult due to the normal nature of us men.
Having to get the paper; cut it straightly and then wrap it all up nicely - really is annoying even thinking about it!
- Well this story does actually have a point. As you would know, women like the nice fancy stuff in other words: bows, nice wrapping paper, ribbons and so on. Considering we cannot be bothered; a new revolution has arisen!
You can get all that nasty boring stuff done for you for a small charge. The future of Christmas is here; no more taking time out of your busy schedule wasting time wrapping presents. FireBox is now offering a new service called CrapWrap to help you get this all done! They have literally paid 20 of there finest truck divers and warehouse workers to wrap presents; did I mention they are using nothing but little care, wrapping paper and brown duct tape.
The cost of this great service? An amazing $9 for this awesome work. Imagine that; all the free time you could have spare from not having to work on wrapping presents. They will also make sure to do the worst job possible for you, they will make a mess of it. Oh, and it doesn’t matter whether it is a DVD, sewing machine or even a microwave they will wrap it!
Be on of the 500+ that have already chosen to side with this offer.
Facebook Members On Strike Protest!
A Facebook strike has been announced. Tonight over 1 million Facebook users will go offline; trying to prove there point of just how much they hate the new design! The strike has only been scheduled for tonight and will only be for a total of 24 hours as it looks so far.
Boris Kelevra a Frech Resident created the idea and the group, it is “The Facebook Blackout – The 1st Blackout Episode 1″. On the front page of the group, there is a message written along the lines of Facebook not really caring about their members and so on. He also adds that he wants others to invite friends to the group, as well as something about getting at Facebook if the idea works out.
A total of 4 million users declined the offer, shows just how active these members are. However a total of 1.4 million have decided to take it up and will be going for it! It will start off with Australia at 6PM and then move on to the international countries. Boris has told his group members to get distracted and not come back to Facebook. Go out, have fun, have s*x!
It will be interesting to see how it all goes down - I’ll keep you all updated!
Biggest Full Moon This Year
Friday we witnessed our biggest full moon of 2008. The Earth, Moon and Sun are held together by gravity. This keeps them in an orbit where neither collide but keep in a natural movement. This keeps us moving around the sun and the moon going around us. The moon takes a trip the whole way around Earth every 29.5 or so days.
Now normally the moon is around 380,000+ kilometers away from us. On Friday however it was only 350,000 kilometers away from us. The moon was also 14% times bigger and 30% brighter, according to NASA’s research. Now as the moon controls how the tides move, as it was closer the tide was higher.
Below are some moon facts you may find interesting to read!
1. The moon is always moving away from Earth; but interestingly it only moves 4cm a year. However the part I found really cool is; as the sun continues to get bigger it pushes the moon back towards Earth. This will eventually cause too much pressure and the moon will deteriorate and break apart.
2. As many of you will have heard, some star signs are effected by the moon; thus turning them crazy! This is a false statement and no real proof has been shown towards this accusation. There is also no such thing as werewolves coming out on a full moon; or at least I haven’t seen any
- there always is a chance ![]()
3. Due to high tides caused by the full moon; there is more pollution on beaches.
You can see a video of the full moon below:
The Future Of Technology

Hey again, I’ve done some good posts today; I thought it would be best to keep it going while I have ideas running through my head. Anyway, I just had quick thought after thinking about the blog itself for a while. The answer itself was in what this blog is about; the future of technology. So I set out to find some good answers to what the future of technology holds and what we can expect to see. I have constructed this list with both personal and group views on the matter. As always you are all free to leave answers and comments with opinions or whatever. Have fun and let’s see if we can get a huge list together. Anyhow, here is mine check it out and see what you think!
- Energy use and evololution - I see us creating new and better uses then fuel/oil. We have already started in fact; solar powered cars and battery powered items as well. I don’t think it will be long until we substitue fuel once and for all!
- Possibly solar powered appliances for home use. So we could have roofs that absorb the solar power in order to give us the energy to run appliances around the house and offers. I also don’t think this is too far away as they have started to do this a little; I just want them to go through with it.
- Better recycling plants - something that really annoys me is that all the waste goes straight to the dump or oceans where pollution is created. Surely there has to be a recycling factor for all the rubbish just being dumped. What if we could use old plastic bags and create new parts for say toys are something. Any little bit helps; especially considering it helps clean up the place!
- Cars that run on micro-waves that are below the roads surface. This would allow drivers to have an automatic drive where they would only be allowed to go a certain distance before they had to stop. This would reduce power use with traffic lights and make for a much safer drive. Sure it would take a lot of time to introduce; but imagine how safe the roads would be and how much power could be saved.
- Apart from all the above, there will of course be additions of flying cars, time machines, microscopic laptops, hover boards, holographic phone calls, robots, talking animals, life on other planets and so on. I recommend you all watch stuff like Futurama, Spy Kids and Back to the Future. Should give you all some more ideas on this kind of thing. Hope you all liked my coverage; feel free to add anything by commenting below.
